I finally got the chance to attend my first LDN Meet Up event and I was not disappointed! Monday night saw me working 9 – 5 (what a way to make a living) and heading off to the West End in search of some icy bloggers.

Now you may be thinking, Monday sessions? Are you mad?! And the answer to that is possibly yes BUT I wasn’t the only one.

I arrived at the Ice Bar after a surprisingly decent brush with the central line and immediately recognised a fellow blogger (Fran). I was so relieved, not be the first to arrive and Fran was super welcoming, putting any nerves I had at ease (not that I had many, I was mainly just excited!)

Once all the other girls had rocked up we were taken to a bar downstairs… we had full reign of the large area and it was the perfect mingling space. To help “break the ice” (I know right!) we were given little tasks, mine being … find someone from Essex…. erm hi, found her lol awks. (I did actually manage to find some others though.) During this networking time I found myself drawn towards a lovely group of gals, so big shout out to Sian, Emma and Amber for being super sweet! I felt like we had a little support system going on, helping eachother take pics and generally being pro blogger buddies.

The cocktails flowed, delicious canapés circled and conversation got more and more comfortable. I was happy to see so many friendly faces and actually bumped into Emma Inks from the Jewellery box launch and the girls from the Bloggers Christmas Burger event.

Before we were let loose in the icy spectacular we were introduced to Tom and Molly. Tom is the Ice Bar marketing manager and is a breath of fresh air (the puns just keep coming) for bloggers in London. His passion for the bar and his understanding of blogging as an industry was so refreshing. Molly, editor of Phoenix Magazine, also expressed a great gratitude towards blogging as a community, the support they can provide and how we can help them. Both Tom and Molly were excellent speakers, totally down to earth and really got everyone fired up!

Then… It was time to face the cold! We donned our warm cloaks and shuffled into the Ice Bar INSTANTLY in awe of everything! Tom explained that the ice used for the bar comes from just one river in Sweden, the walls, the figures, the glasses… everything! I found this totally fascinating, especially as it is the same river which supplies the Ice Hotel! (Although not totally related they are a collaborative art movement of sorts.) I mentioned to Tom that my brother had stayed in the Ice Hotel recently and that he is a tattooist… this lead me to find out that the Ice Bar art work is basically done with a very specific tattoo gun type machine for ice! The precision is unreal and so impressive! If you haven’t already seen the video of how the bar was built definitely give it a watch!

The Ice Bar has a different theme each time it is recreated and this time, it’s rock! You’ll find ice skulls, ice instruments, an ice throne and pumping rock music filling the frosty air. It was a great atmosphere and with so much to look at you could never get bored!

As we were such a large gaggle of gals and due to the size of the ice bar we were split into three smaller groups, my little team went first so once our time was up we were sent back to the warm bar area to see how much wine we could drink whilst talking about our chilly experience.

I’d like to give a HUGE thanks to the Ice Bar for having us, for their enthusiasm towards blogging and for their amazing hospitality. I would definitely go again and totally recommend it as something you NEED to try in London.

Now it would be sensible for a Monday evening if the night ended here but alas us bloggers can handle our drink (although my head as I write this may not agree). Next stop… Dirty Martini (Hanover Square).

With the cocktail cavern saved for us we eagerly awaited our surprise……. more drinks! Cocktails and Prosecco for all! They know us so well. I can confirm (after avidly tasting for your benefit of course) that the cocktails are delicious! With friendly helpful bar staff it was the perfect end to our evening.

I just want to finish by saying a HUGE thank you to Lauren for arranging such a great event and for letting me be part of it! I also want to give another massive round of applause to both venues for being such babes! Deffo get your bums down to these if you’re ever in London… you wont be disappointed!

If you’ve been before let me know what you thought about the whole experience in the comments!

Peace and Love xoxo

This was such an awesome event and so lovely seeing you again. Gutted that I had my sensible hat on and didn’t go to Dirty Martini looks like it was the perfect way to finish the evening. Hopefully see you again soon.

The Ice Hotel is somewhere I’ve always wanted to stay so i’m super jealous of your brother right now. The Ice bar is also somewhere I’ve always wanted to try out, although not much of a drinker, just to experience it would be enough for me, plus the blue cloaks, i mean what is there not to love. Glad you had a good night x x x
