Festive favourites tag…

1.Favourite Christmas smell / scent ?
ALL THE FOOD! Christmas dinner smouldering away in the oven cannot be beaten but I am also loving my mulled wine candle from Home Bargains!

2. Gingerbread or Candy canes?
Candy canes for sure! Particularly the minty type mmmm. I’m not a fan of Gingerbread at all.

3. Is your tree real or fake?
Fake, purely to save on costs but I would love one year to get a real tree. I think it would be a super cute experience going to pick one out and bringing it home!

4. Quality street or Roses?
Quality streets, although I’m not too fussy haha I’m a country fudge kinda gal!

5. Do you dress up or down on December 25th?
I like to dress up but not OTT. I REALLY want to wear the tulle skirt I wore to my engagement party (see here) but I don’t know if it’s too much!! (help me out guys!)

6. Do you have any specific festive traditions?
Nothing in particular. A new “tradition” has been to meet up with friends Christmas eve for a couple of beverages but that started last year haha. After my mum and dad split I would spend Christmas with one and boxing day with the other and alternate year on year. Jon on the other hand has a very traditional Christmas that rarely changes so as I want to spend my Christmas with him I now join his family on Christmas day and one of my siblings usually host boxing day.

7. Any embarrassing Christmas moments that come to mind?
I can’t actually think of anything? I’m sure I have done plenty of embarrassing things. I’ll have to ask my mum and get back to you!

8. Do you wake up early or late on Christmas morning?
Early!!! Even now… Jon does not appreciate it haha. As a kid I was always encouraged to wake up early cause my mum loved Christmas, none of this being sent back to bed! In fact some years she would wake me up haha

9. If you had a stocking where did you hang them?
We never hung stockings but I would wake up on Christmas morning with one at the end of my bed! Try as I might to stay awake and catch Santa I never could!! My mum and dad would also wake up with stockings at the end of their bed, occasionally this would be a pair of tights filled with treats when Santa was running low on the festive type!

10. Favourite festive film/s?
So many, I love Christmas films. Elf, Home Alone, Christmas with the Kranks and the Grinch for the comedy factor and Bridget Jones, The Holiday and Love Actually on the rom com side! Oh and A Nightmare Before Christmas OBV.

11. Was there a present you always asked for as a child but never received?
Not that I’m aware of but as I got older and started hearing rumours about Santa not existing and I would ask for things to prove that he was real. One year I asked for a photograph of santa feeding his reindeer… I tried SO HARD to stay awake and catch him putting the stocking at the end of my bed and I honestly thought I was succeeding, I blinked and when my eyes opened the stocking was there… with a stuffed reindeer hanging out the top!!!! I was still a bit wary but mum informed me that Santa didn’t have a camera!

12. What was the best gift you received  as a child?
Again my brain is a bit foggy and I don’t actually know? I don’t really remember what presents I ever received tbh! But I do have a video of my first Christmas… I’d been opening my presents and all of a sudden my nan and granddad appear at the door (we lived together at the time), I make a bee line for my granddad and show off my new hat and scarf, completely uninterested in anything I have been given and you can hear my mum say “we should have wrapped you up Fred” and to be honest, I think I would have been very happy with that!

13. What is on top of your Christmas tree?
A white cut out angel from Wilkinsons

14. Favourite festive food?
The roast of course!! All the trimmings, the bigger the better… I’m drooling just thinking about it!

15. Favourite Christmas activity?
I just love the whole festive period, spending time with the people you love; eating good food, drinking good wine and gifting them a present to say thank you for being you!

  1. Love your answers to the Christmas tag. I was laughing at Question 3. I’m seriously a fan of fake Christmas trees as well! I always feel like the real ones will bring bugs. Idunno, a little OCD when it comes to that. But great answers!

    Surely following you now
