My post surgery body…

This title makes it sound like I’ve had something crazy done like a leg amputation or a boob job LOLZ! Nope just a cheeky little tendon repair in my ankle.

Obviously with this kind of surgery exercise is a no go during recovery and to be honest all I was good for during the first few weeks was crying and feeling sorry for myself. (which you will know if you watch my YouTube videos)

To counteract the lack of exercise, I planned to go on a major detox! It was the perfect time for this as alcohol is what usually fails me and I wouldn’t be allowed any of that. (Boo!) However… this did not happen. I’m sorry but who wants a salad when your recovering from surgery?! I needed multiple hugs from the inside – Cue me eating ALL THE FOOD. I literally ate worse than I have done in years and I couldn’t stop!

As mentioned before, the only thing I did actually stop was alcohol – not out of choice though, a bottle or two of vino would have gone down a treat.

So now what? Now I am left with my “post surgery body”. A bigger, squishier, less happy version of myself. I couldn’t be more angry at past Laura! Cheers babe, you truly sent me down the river without a paddle, hope it was worth it! (She said it was, the cookie dough was divine … bitch!)

And obviously this was all great timing with that little temptress Christmas steaming in with all the chocolate and cheese!

So now with my wedding day looming and an already purchased dress to fit into it’s time to kick start this sluggish not so sassy butt into gear!

January is always a great place to begin. It’s like a clean slate, like anything that happened before that doesn’t count anymore cause erm hello, that was so last year, you can’t judge me I’ve changed. I put on a total of one stone after my op (I know right wtf! but remember you can’t judge me, it was last year!) My aim now is to lose that stone and tone up on the way. I am still restricted in what I am able to do with my ankle, nothing high impact at the moment which is literally killing me! I cannot wait till I can jump around like a crazy (out of breath, almost dying) beast at body attack again! And yoga, boy do I miss that baby! But for now I will have to settle for water aerobics (which is actually way harder than I anticipated.) I did my first class a few days ago and spent the morning with all the older ladies – It was great!

I am also lucky enough to be part of the #fitnessbunniesunite whatsapp group where a group of bloggers with the January blues have joined forces to motivate each other into a healthier version of ourselves! Nothing like a bit of girl power motivation to get you going! We have also launched a Twitter chat (@fitnessbunnieschat) Sundays at 6pm so that any lovelies who aren’t in the group can benefit from any hints and tips or just a good ‘ole kick up the bum!

What are your fitness goals? Any hints or tips on how to stay healthy on a budget? I’d love to hear what you guys have to say!

Peace and Love xoxo

Laura x

NB. I just wanted to point out before anyone else does that I know I’m not “big” I am not comparing myself to anyone but my past more defined self… if you’re going to be in competition with anyone, make it yourself – it’s way more interesting!,

Good luck with your weight loss. I completely agree with comparing yourself to nobody but yourself. It’s impossible to be happy if you constantly compare yourself with other people. However if you look at a older or different version of yourself you know it’s achievable.
    Great post!
I’d be really grateful if you would take a look at my blog and leave any comments. (Positive or negative I appreciate any feedback to know what people think) as I’m pretty new to this. Thanks 🙂

Thank you for your comment Aimee! I completely agree 🙂 I think the best motivation is looking at old photos cause you know its possible to achieve! (unless they’re baby photos obv that would be a little trickier haha!)

Have left you a couple of comments 🙂 you have a nice writing style! Just maybe work on the asthetics of the site itself and you will be well away!! Widgets are your friend lol! x

I used to love water aerobics! Aqua Zumba is fun too. I need to get back into fitness so I might give those a go to ease me back in! Good luck on your journey! x

I actually really dislike the swimming pool cause I like to wash my hair as little as possible and the chlorine really effects me lol but it was good! Yeah zumbas fun 🙂 there’s a new class at Virgin active where you do aerobics in the dark with glow sticks hahaha can’t wait to try that! Thanks Hannah 🙂 you too x
